Site diversity switching between two transmit stations
Übersicht
- Two transmit stations e.g. for radio uplink
- On every location is one playout center for radio station
- Both sites are connected with a terrestrial backup line and an IP network
- Each site can control the M&C Systems on both locations (site-a and site-b)
Local redundancy switching
- Software based 1:1 protection switching for transmit chains
- Transmit chains consist of one primary Modem and Encoder and a spare Modem and Encoder
- The position of the Protection Switch depends on the status of the modems and encoder
- But switching the modems on or off is also based on the situation of the station (status of the Site-Switch)
- Chain 1 (MOD-1/1R, ENC-1/1R) is dedicated to radio station 1 and Chain 2 to radio station 2 (MOD-2/2R, ENC-2/2R) on both sites.
Site switching
- Implements the site switching in case of a transmit failure of one station
- Each M&C System monitors two sets of equipment:
- Primary equipment : two feed back receivers (which receive the transmitted signal of the station)
- Spare equipment : transceivers and modems and encoder in the transmit chain for the other radio station
- Switching rules:
- A station is only selected as Spare (transmitting from the spare station) if no fault is detected in this station.
- A Site-Switch will be performed if some of the primary equipment of a station fails.
- If the primary equipment fails, all radio channels will be transmitted from the spare station.
